The 13th Annual World Sabbath was held at the Greater New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit on Sunday, January 29. Members of local faith communities gathered to celebrate their diversity while recognizing their common goal of peace among religions and cultures.

Members of All Saints parish in southwest Detroit, which is pastored by Fr. Guy Snyder, PIME, participated in the event by performing an authentic Native American dance.

Highlights of the event included a “Children of Peace” procession and the display of a quilt with squares designed by those youngsters. The quilt was assembled by friend of PIME Virginia Gregoire.

PIME in the U.S. celebrated the recent beatification of Fr. Clement Vismara with a special event at the Detroit headquarters on Sunday, October 23.

The celebration included a Mass celebrated by Regional Superior Fr. Ken Mazur, PIME , a video presentation about the life of Blessed Clement, and a dinner reception for over 200 friends of PIME. Guests included members of the Burmese community in the United States, who took part in the liturgy and performed a traditional dance at the reception.

The Picnic at PIME was a great success! Our many guests enjoyed a meal of hotdogs, watermelon, and other goodies while listening to live music and visiting with friends old and new.

Many thanks to Savon Foods and Mr. Lou for their donations of food. Thanks are also due to Andy Leonard, Rick Marone and Fr. Bob Scullin, S.J., pastor of Gesu Parish, whose musical talents made this beautiful summer evening in our garden even more enjoyable.
